How to Care for Your New Acrylic Bath

1-Day Bathroom RemodelingAcrylic baths are a wonderful alternative to traditional remodels for many reasons, including price. But the main reason we love our bath systems is the ease of maintenance. The days of endlessly scrubbing your grout in an attempt to keep your shower feeling clean are over. With that being said, we would like to explain more about how to care for your new bath system to ensure your old cleaning habits don’t ruin your new product, and potentially void your warranty.

Don’t Use Abrasive Cleaners on an Acrylic Bath System

When cleaning your acrylic system, never use cleaning products in aerosol cans or solvents, including acetone. Acrylics can scratch easily, so abrasive cleansers, scrubbing pads and hard brushes are out of the question. Because your system is designed to be low maintenance, you no longer have to worry about using so much energy and elbow grease to get the job done!

Choose the Right Cleaner

When choosing a bath cleaner, please check the label to ensure they are safe for use on acrylic systems.

Green cleaning products are almost always a safe bet, as well as many multipurpose cleaners. If you’re into natural cleaning, you’re in luck as a 50/50 vinegar-water solution is all you need to tackle tough stains on your new acrylic system. Just purchase a spray bottle to hold your solution and you’ve got an extremely affordable and environmentally friendly option.

Another solution for hard water stains is to cut a lemon in half and rub it over the rough area until the hard water deposits loosen. Rinse with water, and then wipe the area dry with a microfiber cloth. Do not use the CLR or similar solutions on your new system. Let mother nature do the job for you and feel good you’re not pouring chemicals down the drain.

Ongoing Maintenance for Your Acrylic System

We recommend cleaning your tub once a week to prevent tough stains from developing. Cleaning entails spraying your shower down and rubbing/scrubbing with a soft sponge. Sometimes regular spraying with the proper solution eliminates the need to scrub all together.
